Cerro Lindero Magallánico stands out for its proximity to the Northern Patagonian Ice Field. This adventurous trek leads you through ancient lenga forests, across windswept Andean desert landscapes, and over rugged volcanic scree slopes ("escoriales"). Depending on the season, you may encounter snow patches and frozen lagoons, even in the heart of summer.
Due to its geographical location and elevation, this mountain is highly exposed to the elements—weather conditions can quickly shift, making it feel like a winter expedition even in warmer months. This adds to the raw and rewarding nature of the experience.
From the summit, you’ll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Lakes General Carrera and Bertrand, the Cordón Contreras range, and the Baker River basin—some of the most iconic landscapes in the Aysén region.
This is a physically demanding highland trek that involves traveling on faint trails and off-trail terrain. It is considered a moderate mountain ascent, with steady elevation gain over gentle to moderate slopes, and may include sections of snow travel depending on the season.
The hike takes you into remote alpine territory with minimal infrastructure, making it a true wilderness adventure for those in good physical condition and eager to experience Patagonia in its rawest form.
