This horse-supported trekking adventure from Puerto Guadal lets you hike freely through forests, rivers, fossil-rich terrain, and hidden lagoons, while horses carry the load. A perfect balance of comfort and adventure for those who want to go deeper into the wild without the weight.
The journey also extends into Patagonia National Park, exploring two of its most iconic sectors. In the Chacabuco Valley, cross vast open steppe framed by mountains and home to roaming guanacos and rich Patagonian wildlife. In the Jeinimeni sector, discover a more rugged and remote landscape of rock formations, caves, and colorful valleys shaped by ancient volcanic and glacial forces.
Step into a true Patagonian expedition from Puerto Guadal—a 4-day, 3-night journey designed for those who crave adventure, exploration, and discovery. Supported by horses, you’ll travel deeper into landscapes few get to experience, moving freely through an ever-changing terrain.
Over the course of the expedition, you’ll cross a remarkable diversity of environments: dense native forests, rolling hills, open grasslands, and rugged rocky outcrops. The route weaves through private ranches and along the wild edges of Patagonia National Park, offering a rare glimpse into both untouched nature and traditional Patagonian life.
Each night, you’ll camp at historic gaucho sites—places still used by local ranchers as they move through the land tending cattle. These camps connect you to a living culture, where the rhythm of Patagonia is still guided by horses, land, and seasons.
This journey is as much about discovery as it is about movement. Along the way, you’ll explore rich fossil beds, uncovering marine and mammal fossils—strange, beautiful remnants of ancient worlds etched into stone. You’ll also encounter hidden lagoons in vivid shades of turquoise and green, tucked away in remote corners of the landscape.
All the while, you’re surrounded by stunning panoramic views of General Carrera Lake and the distant expanse of the Northern Patagonian Ice Field—a constant reminder of the scale and wildness of this region.
As the day ends, gather around the fire to enjoy live fire cooking at camp, sharing stories under vast Patagonian skies.
To complement the expedition, the experience extends with two additional days of exploration into some of the most iconic and contrasting landscapes of the region. One day is dedicated to the Chacabuco Valley sector of Patagonia National Park, a vast and open expanse of steppe where guanacos roam freely beneath dramatic mountain backdrops. Along the way, you’ll visit the striking confluence of the Baker and Neff Rivers, where glacial and sediment-rich waters merge in vivid shades of blue and gray.
Another day takes you toward the Jeinimeni sector, a more remote and lesser-visited area known for its unique rock formations, hidden caves, and colorful valleys shaped by volcanic and glacial forces. This region offers a quieter, more intimate connection with Patagonia’s raw and sculpted landscapes.
This is more than a trek—it’s a journey into the wild, into history, and into the spirit of Patagonia itself.
